DISCOVERY & REQUIREMENTS
Have a project in mind but not 100% sure where to begin?
Let us help.
GET IN TOUCH TODAY
GET CLARITY
Our goal is to help you think strategically, define and refine requirements, and formulate a robust, considered brief for your next project.
We conduct discovery sessions in two distinct phases – pre-engagement and post kick-off.
Prior to engagement, we’re more than happy to conduct initial discussions and requirements sessions at no charge in order for you to arrive at a clearer picture and brief for your project. By this stage, we’ll also have a solid understanding of the scope of work and can provide an accurate proposal or statement of work for formal approval.
From here, further Discovery sessions may be needed to flesh out details, and these are considered within the scope of the project.
PROCESS
Any successful project begins with strong planning and clear thinking. We think in both macro and micro terms, strategic and tactical.
We work with you to engage stakeholders, define objectives, outcomes, and what success looks, which in turn informs business and project requirements.
Discovery and requirements occurs at a number of stages:
1. Meet and greet
Get to know us, and we’ll get to know you. There needs to be a good fit! We’ll want to know all about your business, your goals and what you hope to achieve. We’ll run you through our expertise and experience, and how we work.
2. Initial Discovery
Following the meet and greet, often a short Discovery session is of value. Here we can lay down some groundwork for the overarching objectives and key requirements.
3. Estimate and proposal
At this point, we should have enough of a brief to prepare a formal estimate and proposal (or statement of work), before moving to formal engagements.
4. Stand alone-workshops
Prior to formal engagement on a project, we also provide stand alone requirements gathering sessions. This can help to understand and validate the project, and can have a strong bearing on project direction (or if it goes ahead at all).
5. In-project Discovery
Once the project has kicked off, often there’ll be further workshops needed to unpack specifics. This might include stakeholder engagement, site planning, backlog development, developing user journeys, or UX planning.
WHY IS DISCOVERY IMPORTANT?
- Refine your brief and understanding of your objectives
- Uncover new directions and ideas
- Understand the wider business implications
- Ensure you don’t embark on a costly, misdirected project
- Ensure your MVP scope is actually what you need
- Start with a rock-solid strategic foundation
- Set yourself up for success
